It’s time for Nasim Pedrad to be the star of the show. According to Variety, Nasim, who spent 5 years as an ensemble cast member on Saturday Night Live, has signed a deal with FOX to create, write and star in her own comedy series. The premise of the new series hasn’t been revealed yet, but it continues Nasim’s relationship with FOX, who are obviously big fans of hers.
She left SNL after 5 seasons to co-star in the John Mulaney sitcom, “Mulaney” which premiered last Fall, but was cancelled this month. Nasim Pedrad also has a recurring role on FOX’s sitcom “New Girl” this season. And she will also be part of the network’s comedy horror series this Fall, “Scream Queens” which is from “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy and is currently in production in New Orleans.
20th Century Fox TV President Jonnie David was thrilled to sign Nasim for a starring project. He said, “Nasim’s an undeniable creative force in front of the camera and a brilliant writer-producer behind the camera. We’ve long admired her work on ‘SNL’ and ‘Mulaney,’ and we think she’ll be hugely valuable to us on the comedy side. And we can’t wait to develop with her later this year.”
